What is SPC?
The Superintendent Parent Council is
comprised of the Superintendent of Fountain Valley
School District, the elected board of officers, the
chairpersons of special committees, and the presidents
of each school’s Parent Teacher Unit or the appointed
representative. SPC meets the third Wednesday of
September, October, December, January, February, March,
April and May at 9:00 a.m. in the boardroom at the
district office at 10055 Slater Ave., Fountain Valley.
The objectives of
SPC, according to its by-laws are to provide community
support to the Fountain Valley School District’s
professional staff in order to provide the best
educational opportunities for every student; to provide
unity and communication among the Parent Teacher units
and the district office. We support communication and
unity with each other for the benefit of all students.
Why should you
attend SPC meetings?
SPC is the best tool
you have to gain information pertaining to the school
district’s activities and objectives, community
activities related to FVSD and to share reports of
progress or issues between each school’s Parent Teacher
units of this district.
This is a council
with a wealth of information and experience to support
your school Parent Teacher units to be as successful as
you aspire to be. The more we communicate between our
associates, the better the opportunity for success. We
welcome all members of your units to join the meetings.
What is on the
agenda for this year?
Red Ribbon Event-The
city of Fountain Valley and each school work together
through SPC to put this event together at the F.V. City
Hall each October. Red Ribbon Week celebrates our
community’s commitment to substance abuse prevention and
safety in our schools and community.
ACE-Fountain
Valley School District has operated for several years a
school/community advisory council that meets with the
Superintendent to promote activities and to support
programs that benefit our students. The committee
advocates for positive legislation and adopts district
wide projects. It serves as a key communication link
and input vehicle for the schools.
Fountain Valley
Educational Foundation-ACE supports the activities
of this non profit organization that raises money for
programs and services that the district budget cannot
support due to the lack of state funding.
Legislation-ACE
adopts a legislative platform and works with SPC to
coordinate legislative advocacy in Sacramento.
Fine and
Performing & Arts-ACE is involved with fundraising
activities of the Foundation in support of instrumental
and elementary music in our schools.
